It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.
